A Sunday does not need a plot twist. Sometimes it needs flowers and a reason to leave the apartment before the afternoon gets away from you.

Domino Park lists its GrowNYC Greenmarket on Sundays through Nov. 22. The park describes a selection that includes produce, mushrooms, flowers and plants. Think of it as the start of a small ritual rather than another errand.

Our version is simple: Bring a tote, buy what you will actually use and leave time for the waterfront. A bouquet can be the whole purchase. There is no prize for carrying a week of groceries along the East River.

The park sits on the former Domino Sugar Refinery site in Williamsburg. Its waterfront promenade and elevated walkway make the industrial setting part of the outing. You can give the architecture some attention without turning the afternoon into a guided tour.

For a visiting friend, it is a useful introduction to the neighborhood at a slower pace. For anyone who lives nearby, it is an excuse to enjoy a familiar place without rushing through it.
